I'm venturing back into the blog world after about a 2 month hiatus! I didn't even post once while we were at home for the "summer", but we were busy soaking up every minute we had with the people and places we love. . . which is exactly what we needed! Our time in Oregon was incredible and filled to the brim. Every weekend was booked with something good, and the days in between were filled with the perfect mix of family, friends, and fresh air :) Can you tell we're already missing it?
We've completed our first week of school already. I can't believe how fast it all happened! But it came, and it's here to stay until next June. That's a daunting thought at this point!
We're really liking our new place that's right next to the school, but still working on getting all the kinks out. I was using more than two electrical appliances yesterday, and lost power for two hours. . .just a bit inconvenient. AND Chris just fixed our TV as I type!!! Yay!
I'll try to include some pictures of our new place in my next post. The point of writing today was to get past the "I haven't written in two months, how do I start!?" feeling.
Back to school. It was a great first week! It was just as busy as last year, however Chris and I both felt SO much more prepared. I have a new partner teacher this year in my our classroom. I'm still getting used to the feeling of "sharing" my class/classroom, but I love her! Her name's Putri, and she's taught for 7 years already (at one of the other SPH schools in her hometown). So far, we've worked really well together, and complement each other's teaching styles and experience levels. It's just a different adjustment from last year when I made all the decisions about the class independent of anyone else. I'm excited to see how we continue to get better at co-teaching and combining our creative energy!
It was the sweetest thing coming back to school and seeing all my kids from last year. They all swarmed me and gave me big hugs. It brought me so much joy, and made me a little sad to pass them on to someone else. I can tell my class this year will be just as sweet though. They're actually much better behaved to begin with, so I'm excited to start fresh with a new bunch, and try to make improvements from last year. I feel so much more confident in my teaching and management already. I have lots to learn, but year two is already feeling so much better.
Friday was our first batik day. Here's a picture of my new class. I have 24 but two were missing. They're pretty stinkin' cute!
Also, we have a DYNAMITE view out our apartment window. Here's a little teaser until I can show you more. This is only about 1/4 of the view (out to the left).
I'll try to write again soon! Love you all!
