This has now been two weeks ago, but I wanted to share the cuteness and the culture with you. I am so in love with the fact that I get to learn about other cultures while living in Jakarta. Chris and I have decided it's one of our favourite hobbies :)
*After 2+ years of teaching at an international school that uses British English, don't mind my weird spelling of "favourite". . . it's a habit now.
Back to Korean Thanksgiving. I have four Korean students this year, and I like the diversity it adds to my class. For the last hour of class one day, they (led by one of the girl's mom) got to share with the rest of the class a little about their Thanksgiving traditions.
They are precious! |

Songpyeon: rice cakes filled with either red bean or sesame seeds mixed with honey. Once you pop, you just can't stop! |
Can't remember these names, but it was all really tasty! |

Last week, Chris and I also got to have dinner out with our good friend Dasom. She took us to an authentic Korean restaurant where we left our shoes at the door, and sat on the floor. It was such a treat! She grew up in Korea, but went to high school and college in the states, so She is so fun to talk and laugh with about our cultural differences because she understands both. And since we were out to dinner, eating Korean food, we just HAD to do the most Korean thing we could and take "selfies". She's such a good sport!
And then one more picture from this Friday night. . .
Chris and I got to have dinner with the Korean boys from his team (after their WIN!) and some of their friends.

Like I said before. . . just enjoying one of our favourite new hobbies.
